SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. \u2014 Harry Sparks\u2019 killer-clown horror thriller \u201cScissors,\u201d starring Jill Kassidy and Tommy Pistol, had its star-studded red-carpet premiere on Tuesday at the Regal Sherman Oaks Galleria.<\/p>\n

\u201cScissors,\u201d Spark\u2019s homage to the slasher genre he grew up with, is a mainstream project featuring a cast comprised mostly of adult performers.<\/p>\n

The movie features well-known porn pros Avery Jane, Lilly Bell, Alex Coal, Blake Blossom, Katie Morgan, Misty Stone and Isiah Maxwell. Rounding out the ensemble are industry veteran James Bartholet \u2014 who also co-produces \u2014 as well as model Annie Cruz and mainstream actor Scott Schwartz.<\/p>\n

Pistol, Bell, Coal, Blossom, Stone and Maxwell all attended the screening and took part in an informative Q&A session afterward, answering fan questions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re a big fan of slasher movies from the \u201970s and \u201980s, you\u2019ll like this movie,\u201d Sparks told XBIZ at the event. \u201cIt\u2019s about sex workers. As you know, the adult industry is under assault right now from people like the Heritage Foundation and Project 2025, so \u2018Scissors\u2019 is very timely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sparks said he focused on a serial-killer clown who goes after content creators and OnlyFans models, because \u201cthat\u2019s a fear most people have for some reason, because clowns are weird and creepy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like clowns most of the time \u2014 except when they\u2019re slashing people!\u201d he offered.<\/p>\n

\u201cScissors\u201d is the third mainstream project from Sparks, who is also known for helming ambitious, innovative adult features.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made two mainstream features already,\u201d he said. \u201cIn 2007, I made \u2018All Hallow\u2019s Eve,\u2019 an anthology movie. The second one, in 2009, was a modern-day update of \u201cLittle Red Riding Hood.\u201d It was adult-oriented but it wasn\u2019t an actual adult movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sparks said that \u201cScissors,\u201d though titillating, had to be mainstream because \u201cin order to do justice to a slasher movie, there\u2019s a certain amount of violence and blood you just have to have to do it right \u2014 and nowadays you are not allowed to mix that with sex in an actual adult movie, for distribution and monetization.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sparks also said his casting choices were determined by the fact that he wanted actual sex workers to play sex workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got to play Scissors!\u201d Pistol enthused, providing a not-too-spoilery spoiler, although a particularly effective plot twist may complicate that revelation. \u201cI\u2019ve got to admit, I\u2019ve never played a character like this where I didn\u2019t have to talk, which was hard for me to do. It was really fun and what I really enjoyed about this whole thing was how James and Harry have been able to put this together and have it screened in a real cinema. For me, this means a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pistol added that in the years since he has been working in adult, he has always hoped that more people would take advantage of all the industry talent and equipment at hand, like the \u201cScissors\u201d team did.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can do all these things, we can do indie features,\u201d Pistol told the audience during the Q&A. \u201cWe should do many more projects like \u2018Scissors\u2019!\u201d<\/p>\n

Maxwell and Blossom, playing an ill-fated doctor-nurse couple, brought some randy, funny eroticism to their salacious interactions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were improvising such fun conversations on set,\u201d Maxwell reminisced.<\/p>\n

The always hilarious Blossom \u2014 whose signature bare bosom was made for the big screen, giving her authentic \u201970s slasher \u201cscream queen\u201d vibes \u2014 told the audience, \u201cI\u2019m so glad I could represent the nurses out there in the world who work really hard. So sad she had to die, but Nurse Jenny will live on in our hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bell added, \u201cIt\u2019s so cool to go to a mainstream theater and see the movie poster with all our names there and on a big screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coal shared that her favorite part of \u201cScissors\u201d was the camaraderie among sex worker characters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey came into the hospital room and said, \u2018Oh, yeah \u2014 we\u2019re family,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cIt really showed how we all band together in times of trouble, and I liked that because sex workers are not often portrayed in media as we really are, and that was really nice. It felt good.\u201d<\/p>\n

The irrepressible, ebullient Stone then thanked Sparks for making her look so good.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love doing mainstream,\u201d she declared. \u201cMore so, I love doing mainstream with my co-workers, who I usually have lovely sex with. Let\u2019s start doing indie films more often, guys! Let\u2019s start working on scripts and getting them done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bartholet concurred.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is so much talent here, and these folks are wonderful actors and it\u2019s so great we had a chance to show their acting abilities in a genre that is so popular right now like horror is,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

The \u201cScissors\u201d producers are currently discussing distribution arrangements. Sparks and Bartholet said at the screening, \u201cIf enough people like this one, we\u2019ll do another one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Scissors killed Nurse Jenny!\u201d Blossom bemoaned.<\/p>\n

\u201cStay tuned,\u201d Bartholet comforted her. \u201cWho knows? Maybe we\u2019ll get to see her twin\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
